I was talkin to my mom on here she wanted to know what i wanted for christmas. I told her just to give me cash so I can put it towards buying a wire welder. So she wants to know what kind Im gonna get. Little do I know she had dad come look at the screen. Next thing I know she says order it, Dad is gonna pay for half

Its temporairly backordered but the first thing im gonna do is get some metal and make mom and dad a big burn pit like they wanted to surprise them. What do you guys think?

220, with or without gas(im going to run with gas)

Cool. that is the one thing I wish I wouldve done in school was take welding, the potential is endless when you can bond two peices of metal together.

Yeah, i took a welding class in highschool, loved it, took another in college and got that much better at it. I weld all that i can at work. Itll be nice now ill be able to go fiddle with it whenever I want. I do suppose Ill learn how high priced wire and gas is tho, lol

I have the Hobart Handler 175.The 180 Ithink replaced the 175. I use it with gas. Good welder. I've had it for 4 years now, still working great.

yeah welding is really fun.. i know the gas here for a lil mig.. like a tank size of a scuba tank or a lil smaller.. costs like 40bucks then 10bucks for wire at home depo... it does add up w/ big projects

Nice welder there. I would say for you get a roll of gasless wire to keep on the shelf just in case you run out of gas in the middle of a project on a Sat afternoon or even Sun and can't get anymore.

You can weld the rest of my cage then. My welds look like hell since switching to gas but I drove our F-350 over one of them and couldn't get it to seperate.

Good thing you found that man, I just got a email today from Northern Tool and Equipment. Item no longer available your order has been canceled.

So I just ordered from sears. It will arrive at my parents place in 4 - 6...I just hope my dad stays away from it:rolleyes:

I like hobart welders my dad has the 140 which has its limitations. The only thing I hate it the duty cycle. I'm not used to stoping every 5 minutes for it to catch up. Sticks all the way!!! Oh and get a good helmet I'm glad I spent the money on my lincoln auto darkener
