CK5 will be pruning PM\'s older than 180 days (6 months)

Hi
I have decided to prune the PM's a little, something we have never done in the 4 years that we have had the forums, so please save off or print etc. any PM's that you need to keep that are 180 days or older. I will do this on Friday morning around 8 AM MST.
Maybe we can get rid of some of the 122834 PM's that we have in the system. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

FWIW, less than 10 of those were older 180 days.

I had to delete many of them because the page would take forever to open up with too many of them saved.

Once I get done PM'ing with another member and don't need to deal with them anymore, I delete all those PM's.

Right now I've got around 12 total in my file. Need to go clean some up as I'm done with a few of them. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

hmmm interesting....

well ive got a few that id liek to keep somehow, how can i go about saving entire PM's then ? i go through and delete my old ones often, i dont keep alot because i know that they take up forum, room, i even have posted a thread about this in the past cuz i was concerned about what room they might take up and felt guilty about keeping very many but everyone seems to just brush it off and bragged about how many literally hundreds or thousands of them they had in their inbox, i know that at one time i had hundreds of them in mine, but i got tired of looking at them and started a deleting marathon and got down to like 20 or 30, i need to go through them again sometime soon cuz i am up to about 146 now, about 90% of which are current but i can live without.

anyways i have only a handful of PM's that are around a year old, little more maybe, and have info in them i really really really dont want to lose if at all possible hmm..

have no way to save them other than to my HDD but i have no external drives except for a basic CD ROM and thats it, no floppy or burner or anything else, so whenever my puter crashes- and thats real often- then i lose anything and everything on my HDD every single time and have to start all over again with new OS installment, sometimes it happens two three times a month.


what do/can i do ?

if i have to lose these few that are over 180 days old then ill just give up and forget the whole PM idea i bet and just turn it off.,

Uh, no. If I saved all mine I'd have something like 15,000 pms trying to load. I usually clean it up every couple of months. The new version software makes that job a little easier. If you ask it to 'check all' it will actually check all now, with one click. Before it would only check 75 or so at a time...

Anyways, maybe people just like me Wes. /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif
