Sh*t, I forgot about that. Thank! I will need to. Dont know yet. I dont want to put $3000. into this axle, but If I have to then I have to!!!

Well, this is my first D60. I havent priced out parts yet. I dont know what all the goodies cost! This is going to be a camping, tow rig, go where ever the hell I want rig. Its not a big time rock crawler or comp. rig. I dont need the best parts and all the options. For now gears. Later, cross over and other stuff.

FYI, I just finished mine, here is what it costs...

Dana 60 Front Axle
Crossover Steering Arm ORD $ 150
Studs ARP $ 30
Kingpin kits $ 57 (2)
Pinion Yoke 1350 u-bolt $ 65
Detroit Locker35 spline, 4.10 gear $ 595
Install kitbearings, seals, shims, etc. $ 160
u-jointsforged spicer $ 42 (2)
Stub Shafts35 spline $ 99 (2)
HubsWarn Premium 35 spline $ 240 pair
Calipers $ 30 (2)
Rotors wagner$ 72 (2)
Pads wagner, $ 50
Total (D60) $ 1,890

Subtract whatever you dont need but it adds up quick. I reused the factory 4.10 gears. Since you have to get new hubs anyway you might as well get the 35 spline stub shafts, because the hubs are over half the cost of the upgrade. Take note I have $180 of crossover parts in there.

Sweet. Thanks bud. Now I know what I need. I think I'm going to do all that stuff you did!
Now I know what costs what! That's not too bad for those upgrades. I will have to add a set of gears and a couple more things also. Thanks again!!

One funny thing was I ordered pinion and axle seals and then my install kit came with a pinion seal too. So I thought, well, I guess I have an extra pinion seal. Then when I got done setting pinion preload after gear setup I installed the seal and went to put the pinion back in and realized I never set the bearing under the seal! ha ha. Of course when I removed the seal it had a bend in it, and I thought, well, it's good I have a spare!

Hey guys, hope you can help a new guy on a D60! I cant seem to find the bolts that hold in the calipers! Its a lot differant than a D44! I want to clean up the axle and check this thing out! Thanks guys!

There is only 1 bolt that retains the caliper retainer and spring clip. They are on the lower portion of the caliper bracket on the inboard side and it is an allen bolt with a short head. Once the bolt is removed then you need a drift or screw driver to knock the retainer/spring clip out then the caliper will come off.

thanks bud. I saw that and didn't know what is was for, so I didn't touch it. I'm sure I will have some questions in the future. Thanks again !!

Link didn't work. I went on there today. I have doing a lot of research on the D60. Hrs. And hrs. Couldn't find out anything on how to pull the caliper though. Can you repost the link. Thanks again!

Good list!

Where did you get the Detroit and 35 Spl stubs for those prices?

Highonda over on Pirate has some screaming deals on 60 rebuild parts. Go through the axle and figure out what you need though first.

I think his website is extremeaxlesales

Thanks. I have been going through that the last couple of days! Lots of info there. Found a lot here also. Like this place way better. Seems like most people on that site are haters!

Sweet, got the caliper off. Now, the rotors. It has a 4 prong locking nut. I thought my 14 bolt hub socket would fit. Nope, it has 6 prongs sticking out, so it won't fit the 4 prong locking ring. I need the socket where the 6 prongs are inside the socket right? I guess I will head to the parts store tomorrow. I don't want to have to learn this in the woods!
Thanks!

The guy I got the axle from has a Detroit Trutrack for my 14 bolt and the install kit. He never installed it and wants me to buy it. He didn't say a price, but I'm sure not over $200.00 don't know anything about the locker,

FYI...the detroit truetrac is not a locker, it's a limited slip
nice find on the d60 front
