I just changed the cap and rotor on a 1986 k5. Though now it is making a clicking noise coming from the distributor. It appears to be the rotor, but I am not sure why it would be doing that since I tightened it down what I thought was sufficient. If anyone has some obvious enlightenment for what I should be doing when I take it back apart, it would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes you can actually put the cap on and not have it seated correctly, which could cause this or even a defective rotor. or the wrong one from a person who pulled the wrong part. definatly fix it before sumthin bad happens.

Is it a click or a snap like a plug wire arcing to ground? Had a similar problem on my 91 and I thought it was a click, but cranking the motor over one night without the driveway lights on confirmed it was a bad plug wire (looked like someone was welding under the hood:wink1:)

Rotor might've come loose.

Mine kept coming off :haha:

Stuck some thread lock on it and now it doesn't
