Okay can someone tell me where this spring is supposed to mount other than the exhaust pipe?

yep that is the wrong spring. The correct one looks like the universal throttle spring, only bigger

thats a spring to hold my snowplow up from tripping DAM .......

as others have shown and posted you dont need that ankle/knee killer .

Your clutch fork is a broken welded up piece of crap. The end is broken off your clutch fork and steel tabs have been welded to it as a spring hook and adjustment rod pad. If you look at your clutch pedal lever you see a small hole that one end of the spring is supposed to attach too. Then the other side of the spring is supposed to attach to the clutch fork mounting hole, thus pulling the clutch pedal lever and fork together. You need to buy a new clutch fork, in order to straighten out your mess of a clutch assembly.

Oh I don’t know, I think he should start with trying the frame spring, and not freak out and throw the whole truck away in haste
That rigged up clutch fork is going to leave his truck broke down somewhere one day. Best to bite the bullet, and yank the trans out to install a new clutch fork. Going hydraulic would be nice, but for a dependable fix that will not break the bank or take design modification time a new mechanical clutch fork will make the truck dependable...at least in the clutch department.

Probably not. He’s the one looking at it in person not us if he determines that the frame spring isnt gonna fix the problem then he can jump to conclusions.

I am failing to see the broken part of it. The screw holding the end of the spring isn't how the factory did it, but I wouldn't junk it because of that. Maybe make it a bolt in style pin, rather than putting the spring into the hole where the screw is.

And even if the clutch release fork breaks, any man that I know, will still be able to drive the truck. Hell, my kid has been able to float gears in an SM465 since he was a teenager.

There is a smaller spring that holds the fork to the push rod, then there is is the longer one (shown) to pull/ lift the pedal (clutch release). The one in the picture looks like it's trying to substitute for the small spring, holding tension between the fork and the rod?

Good point, my old brain forgot about the little spring. Too used to the older ones and brain fart..

Well thanks for all the input everyone. I have fixed my spring problem.
I would share photos but that would just start a whole new discussion about how I did and the quality of my welds.
The clutch works just fine and I'm back on the road not legally still need insurance & plates maybe next week I will get that done.

Glad that you got it fixed! That's why we all hang out on here!
And while I don't post pictures of my own welding projects and I understand you hesitancy, I hope that you don't feel like we are all waiting to judge.
Not to say that there aren't a bunch of us who will talk smack face-to-face, but we know each other a bit!
:haha:
