There are two types of clutches, a Borg & Beck and a diaphragm. The one pictured is a Borg & Beck style.

That thing is going to be hard as he** to push down if your mech linkage is worn. It's probably like that no matter what, but I had one used in my wifes truck for a short period of time and broke three ball studs before I went and bought a traditional diaphragm style.

I think it is for HD use, but in all honesty, I dont know what clutch setup is supposed to be used to compress that b****. If the hydraulic doesnt cut it and the mech is hard to push, I dont know what you'd use. Unless there is a way to adjust the mech linkage to gain better leverage.

any ideas

yeah, return it and get a diaphram clutch instead. Preferrably a Luk Pro Gold...

I ran a B & B clutch in my K5 (mech linkage too) for 7 or 8 years. Very heavy clutch, and very hard to feather. I went Diaphram clutch after a rear main seal fouled the disc and could not believe how much lighter the pedal was, or how much smoother it worked.

Definitely exchange it for a diaphragm. No reason to have an inferior product that is harder to operate.

were a good place to order this clutch set, the local parts store, or are there cheaper places online i went to 1 place and they told me 264 for the set is that 2 high or about right?

I don't know about diaphram being inferior...but it is more user friendly. I was told (take that for what it's worth) that the B & B style has much better clamping force at all rpms, and significantly better clamping force at higher rpms than a diaphram clutch.

That being said, I never had my diaphram clutch slip on me ever...

264 sounds about right for a brand new Luk set-up. there are much cheaper re-man diaphram kits out there, but face it...it's a pretty big job to swap in a new clutch. How often do you want to do it? I'd rather spend an extra $100 on a really good clutch up front and only do the job once.
