co worker needs a transmission for 2007 1500 4x4 - what's in that thing?

couple quick searches, and didn't pull a lot of info...

but she may be looking for a replacement transmission for her cousin to throw into the truck for her- she was down in Mexico at a wedding, and she said "all of a sudden, the rpms started going up, but the truck wouldn't go faster..." truck is 2007 1500 chevy 4x4 with about 200K on it. apparently she barely made it back into the us, and had it towed to her cousin's shop 100 miles away - he reported "it lost 3rd and 4th gear"

if I were keeping an eye out on craigslist and other places for a crashed / part out truck with a donor... what trans would be in this thing, and what other years and models might have one compatible?? I assume this is something other than and newer than the 4l60E??

It should be a 4l60e. They ran that up past 2013. Best bet would be to get the vin and call the dealership. They can look it up and say for sure.

2007 should be a 4L60. The half ton trucks didn’t see the 6 speed come in until like 2009 except for the sierra Denali getting the 6-speed in 2007.

To know for certain, Eddie is right to call the vin into a dealer and they can break it down.

if its a 4l60E, then I would think she did well to get 200K out of it.
