CO2 Regulator question (Got "The Source" regulator)

I'm going to order my regulator from Wheelers Offroad and had a question. They sell the bottle mounts (like a fire extinguisher) for $47 for the 20lb mount. Is there anywhere I can beat that price for a mount?

Also, does anyone use the bottle boot? It's $11 and I think it could possibly keep it from freezing to the ground like was mentioned before. Could be a good thing to have if I set it off my truck to use it. :dunno:

The site says $35 for the mount. That's where I got my regulator and mount. The boot couldn't hurt, but I've never seen a tank with a boot on it.

That is for the 5lb tank mount. You have to select the 20lb tank from the drop down menu.

Gotcha. I have the same one as on the their site. But I got mine off Ebay. Its a good one. I secure the metal strap with a small carabiner.

Well the MIL and SIL got me the regulator for Christmas! So now I just need a short hose, an inflator and the mount and I'll be up and going.

Finally bought the last two pieces. I found a USA made 3/8" x 25' house at NAPA as well as a tire chuck that snaps in place. I filled one Bogger from 30 to 44psi with it. The regulator and coupler frosted up quite a bit but it worked great.
I've still got to figure out a mount. I may get some scrap from work and put something together this week.

Do you guys store your regulators on your tanks? I was thinking about just leaving it in and putting a plug in a male coupler piece and leaving it in the coupler when it's not hooked up so it doesn't get full of trash.

I leave my regulators on.

for mounts, look at fire extinguisher brackets. that's what I have my Powertank in.

I leave mine on. Never an issue in the K5 with a full top. Carrying it in the bed of my crew cab now and haven't had trouble but it hasn't gone through a winter yet.

Good to know guys, thanks! Mine will be staying on them. I still would like to plug the outlet so I'll rig that up today.

As for mounts, I'm not crazy about putting $50 into a mount right now. I think I can rig something up with scrap from work without much issue. I've been stewing over a few ideas on a modular mount to move between the truck and K5.

Ha! Kind of in the same boat. Got a 20# bottle and regulator, but need to be able to move it from a trailer to K5 at times, and the pre-made mounts won't work.

Also going to look at making a "shield" of sorts to keep the regulator on at all times. Both to keep road grime off, and if I stop and park somewhere for awhile, prevent casual thieves from taking the regulator/hose assembly.

a large crown royal bag works good to cover the valve/reg to keep dirt off in the rig. I only take my regulator off to fill it. I need to build or find a different handle/protector to fit in the buggy a little better, its a puzzle to get it to fit right in the chassis.

Still need something to set the cylinder on, but this is lockable. I suspect the 20lb propane cylinders are a fair bit larger in diameter, perhaps with some snips you can shorten it in the middle and bolt it in place. I'll figure it out. Found that it's half the price (after shipping) to buy at local RV parts places vs. online.

My scrap steel mount still works but will be making a new one or just buying one for my 20lb tank.

Stuck this together this morning. It's some stainless sch10 8" pipe and some stainless angle. It seems to work, may stick some rubber on each end to make it a little quieter.
