My neighbors truck got me thinking today. He has a little Toyota that carries a ton of stuff. So he runs these shocks in the back that have springs on the outside to help with the load.

Was just thinking, maybe a shock like this on a quick release mount might help with on road manners. It would be inboard of the regular shocks. Pull a pin, and they are off. My truck likes to bob and weave some. I can go with a slower valved shock, losing my Bilstien 5125s and the smooth off road ride I get. I already have a rear sway bar that has helped A METRIC F'ING TON :haha: But I can do better. (btw, I remove 2 nuts and the end links come off, bar stays on while off roading)

I will be towing some coming up. Small stuff like a double SeaDoo trailer and 14' utility trailer. I fear tongue weight right now :doah:The back end is soooo soft. I'd like to do the family boat too, 21' jetboat. The truck handled it easily before I lifted it

I have no experience with this type of helper shocks or trying to rig up something like this. Opinions please.

Maybe instead of a pre set helper shock, how about the old school airshocks. If they are only needed when loaded, would be easy to do the pin for removal top and bottom. Then you can adjust thepresure based on weight.

might be easier to collapse for install and removal too, right. Sounds like I need to stop dragging my feet with my OBA install if I'm gunna go this route.

I could use something like that. I plan on pulling a 18' camper with a lift and my jimmy has a 6" rough country. And still hit the trails in moab. Haven't hooked it together yet to check for level. Few weeks. I was thinking air bags or airshocks.

I don't know if OBA is really required. Some guys just pump up the airshocks at home when the put the trailer on the leave them be until they get back. The shock has so little volume you could probably bump it with a Walmart 12V compressor if you're worried about it.

Guys I know went to the gas station and used a regular old air station outside of gas station. But they all eventually got tired of that and wired in the gauges and compressor.
