It a 01 my son Colby bought just before his 13th birthday in June.

Colby 13 truck 13 :D :thumb:

It has 485091 km on it....8171.9 hrs

He got it cheep from a neighbor that had it sitting in his field for over a year do to tranny problems. said when he parked it the truck wouldn`t go into reverse.

When we went to pick up it went into all gears and has been shifting ok, the PO said he had most of his trouble in the winter summer was not to bad.

We had master Russell bring his laptop out with him for the CK5 party on September long weekend so he could scan the truck computer and find codes.

What Russell found was a P1711 solenoid E and rear transmission speed sensor that were giving trouble. Also he checked the injection system and everything was running perfect! The injectors have been replaced recently, good deal!

So now that the Ratbag is running the old lb7 found a spot in the drinking area of our garage for some repairs.

Before we parked it in the garage yesterday we took old LB7 to my buddy Lorne Morrical he lives one mile west of us and is a factory trained GM master mechanic that runs a shop at his place Morrical Motors.

Most handy guy to have living so close to us seeing's how everything that everyone on the farm drives is a GM we got lots of them here! :thumb:

He also scaned the truck with a teck2 and came up with the same thing Russell got but...the truck will not go into four wheel drive and recently when in drive " it has done this twice" it will freewheel then grab again.

He suspects that the transfer case is going to need some help! :haha:
While we were there I asked if he had any used tires for old LB7.
"Lorne also sells tires"
Picked up a set of 265/75/16 Goodyears for 100.00! :waytogo:

Transfer case is very thirsty! :haha:
that's all that came out! :eek1:

Congrats, and good luck getting her straightened out. Looks exactly like my '02 LB7 that I bought new, love that truck.

Yesterday we took out the transfer case apparently not everyone knows about GM pump rub! :eek1:

This one has been run dry for what looks like to me years!! :doah:
I don`t get it the guy we got it from spent a lot of money trying to get the trans right...but nobody bothered to check the oil in the T/C.

This one is shot, not even going to try to fix it. I has two holes in the case one from the pump and one from the snap ring at the back of the case!

Found one yesterday with 220 kms for 650 hopefully I can pic it up today.

Hole from the pump

Not very clear but you can see how dry and black it is!

This is the hole from the snap ring...never heard of this happening before! Couldn`t even get it to release from the shaft!

TC's need oil?

My buddy and I sold and installed a great running 350 into his uncles pick-up that was gonna be used as a work truck. A year later the motor packs it in, and my buddy's uncle is pissed off. They put 40,000 miles on the engine, never once checked or changed the oil. There was about a quart of sludge in the pan, motor was seized solid. Oddly enough that was exactly what they did to the first motor in that truck. This guy felt oil changes were BS, and the Oil change business was just a big scam.

Big scam!!! :haha::haha:

Turns out from talking to a dude that sells Duramax parts in Edmonton that 01 and 02 transfer cases are slightly different than 03 and up. But not hard to make them work, just need to split the case " that I need to do anyway to install the pump saver plate" and retrofit a couple doodads!

Damn, I wanted to meet that guy!

Good find and repair progress Dean...Colby cracking the whip from the chair?

All work on the truck has come to a stop!

For fall harvest!

Won't have any time to play with it for a bit.

Finally got a chance to pic up the transfer case we needed from Edmonton this morning.
It is a 2003 and up 263xhd, turns out the encoder motor bolts right on from the 2001 case! :thumb:
