Colby`s First gen Duramax 01 lb7

good news.
He'll be rolling in no time!

Yup we were happy that it will work out! :thumb:

Just gotta get the case saver plate some u joints and bolt it back in.

We were mounting his new/used 265s on his rims today and as I was dismounting one of the old 245s I broke one of the wheels...so we quit!:doah:

I`ll take a pic and explain what is going on with them tomorrow.

Yeah Dave check this Sh!t out!
The outside lip is worn thin???? That is with little 245s!
I've heard it can happen with tires that are way to wide for the 6.5 PYO'S but not stock sized tires???

Luckily I had two good ones sitting here from the parts truck I got from Russell hopfully I can make two of the other three we got left work, but I don't know if they can be trusted!??

So that transfer case....

This is the plate I use to save the case from pump rub hole dilemma.
I have done three this way.

This one you can see the broken clip and the wear starting on the case that wold eventually become a hole!

This is were the plate sits on top of the pump, and the 4 tabs on the plate keep the pump from hitting the case.
You can see the remaining chunk of the factory clip still on the pump.

So after installing the plate and sealing up the t/c I went to go and put it back it the truck on Monday... get it into position by bench pressing it up there on my creeper and the fock`n thing don't fit!! :doah:

Turns out the douche bag that sold me the transfer case gave me a 263hd not a 263 xhd! I`ll explain more latter. GTG and load some bales.

When I bought the transfer case I asked this guy "how I have sold parts and bought parts from before" if he`s got a T/C for a 01 Duramax.

He said yeah I got one from a 03 with 220 thousand klms on it.

I make a deal with him for 650.oo for it. So on a weekend off Me and Colby get up at 6:30 and drive for 2 hours to his place and pick it up. Colby gives him 650.00 cash. Look great! Identical to the one we need.

Turns out the case is a 263HD out of a 6.0 2500 gasser...they have 32 spline input and 32 spline output. The XHD has 29 in and 31 out.

I tried to get a hold of him for days but all of a sudden he wont talk to me!

So I was going to sell it and try to get another...So I talked to Russell to see if anyone he knew of anyone that needed one and if he knew of any XHD cases for sale. While we were talking we thought of maybe swapping the input shafts from one to the other but didn`t know if that would work for sure!??

Well it took me a lot of searching through parts lists and trying to find a service manual and google... I didn`t find much...seem like nobody has done this before on a 263? :dunno:

But I found out the planetary gears are the same for all 263 cases so I took them both apart "without knowing what I was doing" But I got it! :thumb:

Swapped in Perfectly!

Now I just need a new input seal and a different dive shaft yoke and should be good to go!

Still pissed with the guy that sold me the wrong case to my 13 year old son that works so hard to pay for all this!
But one day Payback will be a bitch! Karma Focker Karma!! :D

Glad that worked out well Dean, you guys must have been bummed when you went to bolt it up:confused:.

Just crazy to think of a 13 year old kid having a truck like this! But good for him for paying for it and working on it!

Yeah seems crazy...I`m a bad influence! :haha:

Looking for a Cheap Dodge Cummins 4x4 for his sister!
She wants a standard in it! :D

We are very proud of our kids, they have both started driving my 77 since they were 7. :thumb:

Worked out!

After all the headaches its driving again! :thumb: T/C works perfectly!

This is a happy kid!

These guys built our drive shaft...did a very nice job! Not cheap 470.00.

Nice and smooth running should be good for a few more miles.

good to hear for Colby!
Nice job Dean!

Hard to find 'cheap' when it comes to good driveline shops...especially here in the land of money. Good job getting it all together and driving good again! I'll bet Colby is ecstatic!

Yeah pulled it just fine! :haha:

The caps for the trailer we just put on today :D...was going to hook it on my 77 for a hub cap pic! But Colby was already driving around the yard everywhere with his truck so I got him to move it.
