Anyone know the trade name for that paint that apears to change colors at different angles? All I can remember is its thousands of dollars a gallon? Thought it was Imron but thats not it.

You may want to check with DuPont, I think they're the ones that make it (along with just about everything else).

Why do people keep calling it a Bronco!!!!!

I know House of Kolor has it. Hopefully that is the right name of the business. They have a website.

"I am Republican. Not a baby-killing, tree hugging, land grabbing, touchy feely, hypocrite wuss democrat!"

House of Kolor calls there's "kameleon". If you are going to paint anything this color, use the house of kolor paint. It is of better quality than the others. It cost more, but you get what you pay for. DO NOT use the dupont version of this. It is of VERY POOR quality. A friend of mine painted his w/ dupont and it was awfull. It always looked gray and dull.

mystic is the color name on the cobras. house of color makes the kamelon line, good selection (lots of different colors) dupont has chromalusion and rm makes one i thats in the diamont line ( i think). rm made the original color which is whats on the cobras. they had a lot of trouble w/ the federal gov. over that paint because it kinda matches the color changing numbers on the new bills. which is basicly ground up holograph material. did i mention i'm in the body biz? *chuckle*

If you're ever out this way and want it painted there's a little old Asian man I found who will paint it for $2000. That's him priming it and doing all the taping.....everything. He has a little back off the beaten path shop. He does good work. I saw some of his latest projects which were what he called "pearled" and they looked sweet!

Forget it guys. These kind of paints started in europe. It is done by spraying ultra thin layers of special paints, in extreem conditions. Not a thing you can do yourself. Besides, letting a scratch be removed costs about half the price of the whole paintjob, which in itself will already get you about 5 Blazer. And you know why it scratches right?

<font color=purple> I know you're not going to get proffesional paint jobs with this but Duplicolor just came out with this paint in a spraycan version.......it sells for around 20 - 30 bucks........it should be cool to do some small stuff with however.

dupont is by far the most expensive at just over $200 a PINT! I priced this for my thunderbird, and paint and materials came out to be just over $3000. House of Kolors makes a low cost paint that runs ~$300 a gallon that changes from blue to purple. The ford Mystic paint was only on Mustang cobra's, Thunderbirds, and Mark VIII's. You can't go buy that paint from ford unless you bring proof you own a mystic vehicle.

Yep, its called "pearl" coating. Doesn't change colors like what it sounds like you all are talking about. But you can base coat the ride with a gold base coat, then paint with a silver pearl coat. And in certain sun light and different angles the silver looks sorta yellowish silver, Really cool combination.
But you can do others as well.

One company that makes it calls it Chromeallusion. There is a lot of puke brown in the color to make it change and it shows up the most, so it's not a very pretty paint. Definatly not K5 worthy!

Are you guys talking about this stuff I've seen on a couple cars around here, That goes from like pink too purple to green when the light hits at differant angles?

. I might be able to get a pic of a sample if ya'll are interested. It's on a piece of metal that resembles some curves on a car cause you can't really tell just by looking at flat samples.

Yeah I thought so. I have too say even though I'd never put a paint job like that on anything I owned, In person it does look really cool!
