Hey everyone I'm looking for a reliable shop in the Colorado springs area to replace my engine (350 TBI), transmission (700R4), transfer case (NP205) and exhaust (Gibson headers and dual flowmasters) all at once.

I plan on replacing the wiring harness, gauges, dash, top, interior, and axles at home, but I don't have the tools (or help) to drop in a new engine, rebuild a transmission, etc., so I'm opting to do it all at once to save on labor.

If anyone knows a good shop in the Colorado springs area (or Denver), I'd really appreciate being pointed in the right direction. Thanks!

Ok, so I'm not answering your question, but think about this. If you have the ability to deal with the axles and other goodies, swapping the engine/trans/t-case isn't too much of a stretch. At most you end up renting an engine hoist. The rest you can do with hand tools. You'll be money ahead even if you have to buy some tools.

Look at it this way, the dealer I work at is charging $98 an hour for labor. Book time on the drivetrain swap is going to be north of 20 hours. That's 2 grand in labor alone and I'm being somewhat optimistic on the labor amount. An independent garage is going to charge less per hour but in a larger market like Colorado Springs, the rate isn't going to be much cheaper. If you can afford the labor cost, why not buy a couple of items that would make the swap easier like an engine hoist and trans jack. Then you have them vs having to pay somebody else again.

I'm making a wild assumption you have the time to do the work too, as that's just as much of an issue as money or ability these days.

Still, swapping the drivetrain in a Squarebody is pretty darn easy to do. It's a weekend job at best with a couple of buddies.

Your description says "rebuild the transmission". Do you have one ready to rebuild? Or do you need the one in the truck done?

This won't answer your question either but if I was closer I'd let you throw money at me to do it all.
As far as trans shops go, find a good one that many people recommend for a rebuild job, too many out there that screw people over with shotty work. Good luck.

Geddes Racing Engines. Rebuilt my 700R4 back in the day when I was there. Great shop. Little pricey though. I agree with the above poster, you will
drop a shitload on labor.
