Colorado vs. FS Chevy

you know you always can have the "I told you so" if she winds up unhappy:laugh:

I had that with my old man when I told him to get my sister a pos for her first car...nope he spends $5000 on a nice Buick Century. 3 days later she hits a tree:rolleyes: $5000 car turned into a $8000 car real quick.

My first pickup was $300 and I never hit anything with it:D

Avery I have a hard time seeing a 5 cyl getting 9. I have to beat the ever living piss out of a 4.3 Vortec in my Blazer to get 11 or 12. Id prolly say lean towards a 4 banger colorado or S10. Unless you can find a smoking deal on a shortbox, then Id go that route.

That's kinda what I was getting at... why spend $15k or more on a vehicle that she's inevitably going to be hard on... but on the flip side she has to make a 1,400 mile trip a few times a year so in my parent's eyes anything older than a couple years is out of the question...

Oh, I know that bias...

...my dad thinks my wife's 02 is on the decrepit side of middle aged, my '96 Tracker is old, and he's amazed Big Ugly still starts up and runs.

Understandable... heck my 23 year old k10 fires up and runs like a champ... and dad's 33 year old F250 fires up faster and runs better than some new cars :)

4.3 standard cab with a five speed and get well over 20 on the highway? Just can't pull a lot. I have thought a lot about ifin i could find one in a half ton 4x4 and get decent mpg.

Ah, but your dad owns a vehicle that doesn't have 200x as the year. Mine wouldn't DREAM of it unless the right Bug fell in his lap. Even then I think it'd take a miracle to get him to buy the thing.
