I'm driving home tonight thinking to my self why we aren't all making a list of common Blazer problems and solutions. So I thought that I'd start a list, if this list is succesful enough maybe the administration will make a new problem/solution forum. So here it goes my problems that I don't have answers to and when I see other people problems that I do have solutions to I'll respond. Hope this goes well. You don't have to have the answers, just ideas or common experiences.
1. Loose/worn out tilt steering colum.
2. Vacum leak from power brake booster (can hear it inside cab when on the brakes).
3. Can't think of anything else, but think of how easy it would be to look up your problem if this is succesful. Thanks guys!

Displacement, cubes, and did you say you drive a riceburner???

<font color=purple> How about the dreaded bouncing gas gauge ?

Grim-Reaper had an idea like this. He did the write-up on replacing the heater core. I know there are many others that could be added. How about these:
1)Ghost activated wipers
2)Electric windows that won't move or re too lazy
3)Correcting sagging butt K5s
4)A transfer case ID chart with pictures and shift patterns.
5)K5s losing power (tune-up guide)

I could contribute with pics and info on my NP203 transfer case.

Definitely need one for the wipers - I'm thouroghly convinced that mine are demonically posessed. For a couple more;

Whistling vent windows
Loose, floppy A/C vents

I'm sure that I can come up with a few (dozen) more too...

It's called the "tech section" on the main page. Problem is while we all know the problems that are common it's getting people to write it up. Steve does a write up on most mods he does to his truck. He can't do it all. It takes contributions to make it work.
Steve will give you a CK5 Sticker for any story submitted that is good enough to post. So what one are you going to do a write up on?

Hey Grim! I'm doing a lift soon! Do ya think that'll be good enough? I didn't notice one on there about a lift and common things you run into on it. It'll be a 4" and I'm going to extend brake lines and all that good stuff.

How about the annoying squeaking somewhere in the rear area of the truck when you hit a bump. AHHHHHHHHHH

If you can still hear that, you need a better stereo!

I need a solution to the ghost windshield wipers also. Mine go on everytime I start the truck. According to my b/f it is a wiper module/computer controlled windshield wipers. Anyway, as far as steering columns go, once they are wobbly they have to be replaced, they are no longer rebuildable. I just got a new one. For steering column questions etc. and ordering the best i found was www.empiresteering.com He ships for free and did an excellent job on building me a column.

Go for it Muddin! If it's good Steve will put it up. Pictures are really nice so have the camera ready.

Sara: You know what happens when Lady Reaper and I are driving down the road in her 79 and the Phantom wipers makes a quick clean of the window...we laugh and write it off as character of a 20+year old truck. I could fix it but eventully it will come back. People have it happen on 89's also. It's a design flaw in the modual that has never been fixed. You can make the problem go away for a while but it will be back.
Same with the tinker bell jingle of the glove box knob at 65 mph, It's character. Now the case shifter rattle was irritating...that I fixed. Help section at Pep Girls had the linkage bushings.

Not a bad idea. I acutally had a shop redo some stuff for me (like tightning up the steering column) and also alignment issues...
I mean, it may seem frivilous, but how about a cross reference chart for motor oil filters, U-joints, headlights, etc etc.

Come to think of it, how about Absolute tire diameter and width?

1) Bouncing speedometer.
2) I've got that (fill in blank) squeak, too!
3) Phantom wipers? How about slow a$$ wipers. (that's easy - replace worn out wiper motors - did I mention I'm lazy?)
4) Rusted rockers and rear quarters.
5} through 20) ...you know what they are - tailgate window crank, etc., etc., etc.

LOL Harry. Thats what I do ever too often. I hear a new noise. Listen to it for awhile. No serious metal grindage. Turn the stereo back up. No more noise.

ok here is the short list of annoyances
1. gas gauge don't work (just sits wherever it wants)
2. speedo don't work (most likely a speedo cable, but too lazy to look into it)
3. interior light does not come on when passenger door opens (driver's works fine)
4. loose sterring column
5. lighter socket caught on fire (too lazy to rewire that too)
6. rear window hangs up on the way down
7. key sw. for rear window stopped working (dash button stil works)

my wipers work fine though
