Considering going with a doubler- questions

I'm thinking of putting togethor a 205/203 doubler. How much does the range box of a 203 weigh? Does the 205 weigh more than the 203? Will it eat up even more engine power cause it has to go through 2 tcases essentially? Links to writeups? Pros cons? Where'd you all get your rear dshaft? (my front sqaure tube should be long enough for the front)

203 range box is purdy heavy. Maybe 35 pounds? I dunno, I have one sitting in the garage, I can weigh it for ya if you really need the exact weight.

205 weighs way more than a 203 range box, that is for sure. I wouldn't worry about a 2nd case 'eating up power'. Sure, spinning through another case will cost a little bit... but I don't think its all that much. Certainly not to the point where its not worth having the extra 2x gear reduction when in double low.

IIRC the 203 range box weighs 76 lbs. and the 205 is something like 230 lbs. I cannot see the range box being any problem as far as extra drag. Consider the double low range and you'll be happy.

A completed 203/205 doubler with adapter is 240# according to ORD.

205 by itself 130# IIRC.

NP203 Range box w/adapter and output shaft for a 465 in a crate: 131#
NP205 for TH400 without adapter: 135#
NP205 for SM465 w/adapter and shifter on pallet: 170#

yeah a 205 is 130 ish I thought. A 203 by itself is a pig, over 160 I believe. I dont think combined drag of both cases would be anymore than a typical 203 setup. Weighing probably close to 6000 pounds and the aerodynamics of a flying brick lol I dont think you would ever notice the difference honsetly.

if i hadnt gotten the deal i got on this one i would have considered other options like a nwf black box or a stac...
