The K5 runs and drives fine, but there is this buzzing noise that you hear all the time even when it is in park. At first I used to think it was the heater or something, but now that I have the interior stripped it sounds like transmission maybe?? I don't know.. its getting annoying, but I don't want to waste my money on the mechanic any more..:doah:

My '90 has 178k miles & has been doing the same thing for a little more than two years. My fluid level is fine and the trans shifts perfect. I have asked a few people and no one can give me an answer.

If you have a TBI truck. Check the fuel lines where they go down by the firewall. If the fuel lines are touching the firewall anywhere. You will hear a buzzing noise from the injectors operating. That sounds like it is coming from the heater /transmission area.
The noise will usually change with RPMs as the injectors open and close faster.

I'll try that sometime. That very well may be the noise I'm hearing. Thanks for the tip.

its annoying, isn't it? :( Mine has been doing it for a while too. I'm getting new paint soon (hence the stripped interior) and I'd like the thing to drive fairly nice once it finally gets done.

I don't even think dynamat would get rid of the noise... which I have considered.. hell, I've even considered having the transmission/driveline looked at or replaced :eek1:

I don't think its a U-joint though because I've heard that sound before and there is more of a vibration isn't there?

VERY annoying, I think it's been doing it so long, that I can almost block it out now. :D
