Continuing 72 Blazer build

Any updates? Do you have any pics that show how the grille fits with the A-bomb?
Hey 71chevy4x4, thanks for the comment. We'll probably be testing the front clip and grille with the abomb in the next month or so. We've got all new poly bushings and a 1" body lift ready to go on, so hopefully that will help with the clearance. I'm hoping we wont have to trim too much. I'll be sure to snap a few pics for you while we're test fitting.

Got some good work done on the driver side today. It was a mess, but the experience from the passenger side really helped. We started with the B pillar again on this side. Went together pretty nice considering what we were starting with.

Some more pics from today. In addition to the B pillar we pulled out the riveted and brazed in patch panels in the driver side floor. After that we were able to get a look at the crappy fiberglass patch in the toe board. It's a mess.

We removed the rest of the rocker box while we we're under the truck.

Hopefully we can have another productive day next weekend and get the driver side close to done.

You did that in one day?

Anyone know what that spring/clip thing is/what it is for (the one running horizontally)? Mine has same and I just thought it was some ghetto shit a PO had put there.......

It's the spring that holds the factory jack and tire changing tools.

Very cool - I love learning the history of the stock ideas/engineering. Thank you
Although I am doing a "Resto Mod" (I think that's the correct nomenclature for 'stock' with mods), I am trying to include as many nods to the original as I can while still making it in my own........uhm......how I think they look best.

Worked on some more rust repair on the driver side today. Replaced the bottom of the A pillar. Worked on the cab support that the PO welded a replacement panel over the rusted out factory support. Got the front half of the inner rocker and floor patch in too.

Not a bad day working on the truck. :smokin2:

Are you still planning on going full hydro steering?

Martin

Hi Martin,

I think we are going to go with the full Hydro setup. It seems to be more cost effective than some of the crossover/ hi steer setups when you start factoring in the 2wd steering box and pump upgrade. I'm sure we'll be looking into the issue further when we get a little closer. But before any of that, we have a ton of bodywork to do and a cage to build. It may be this time next year before we dig into it, realistically.

Is it going to see street time?
