contura switches

There's obviously an English American language problem here. You have found the decals you want but not the rocker switches???
Aren't their switches any good?
Maybe I'm just reading your post wrong....it is kind of cold here today lol

well your confusing me too... :haha:

it is cold and snowing here..

I basically want their switches with the stickers as shown in the pdf.....
but cannot find anyone that sells them...

Phone them tell them you want to buy but can't! I'm sure they'd be helpfull enough to suggest someone. Did you phone any of those listed? A lot of people (me included) don't update their sites for ages.

You won't find them.

I searched high and low, for months. Many many hours searching.

The best thing to do is use thier configurit to build the part numbers for the rockers only and then use thier dealer inventory function to search out dealers with those in stock. If you can find a place that has them in stock then you can order the onesies twosies that you need. I found a couple rockers with some symbols. Wesgarde will take your order if they have them in stock and you have at least $50 worth of stuff. Alot of the companies in their dealer list won't deal with the public, you need to be a business.

You can only order exactly what you want if your willing to buy 250pcs or more, or if your willing to pay a fee per switch below 250pcs.

I used their configurit to build LED switches (I didn't want incandecent ones) and found what I needed at wesgarde who was kind enough to take my order. But the rockers with symbols, they are a tough find.

So, what I'm doing instead, is I'm going to print out the symbols I want on a laser printer on the clear sticker paper from Avery. I havn't done it yet, so we'll see how it works out. There's some liquid type protection stuff you could put over the top if needed too, my wife has it for scrapbooking stuff. It's very durable. But I'm trying it without first.

Oh yeah, while using thier dealer inventory, just use the first part of the string in there, leave out the symbol code out and it's easier to look at the list and look up which symbol it is rather than typing in a bunch of symbols.

Most of the ones I found in stock were marine ones, trim, anchor lights, bildge that sort of thing.

I had a few of those switches in another vehicle. They suck. Pardon my french.
One burned up within 3 days, and another physically broke, and yet another burned out an indicator within a few months. Very low quality.

That's good to know, deleting that link. Thanks.

those from that location or did you have problems with the Contura ones?

Those from that website. It'sfunny, if you look at their FAQ, one of the questions is "Are these contura switches",anwer "No."
Obviously they get asked that question, otherwise it wouldn't be on their FAQ.

They don't hold a candle to the Contura ones.
OEM's use the contura ones. They are shock, cold weather, heat, and stress tested.

funny how these subjects cycle around... :haha:

Yup, the 4x4's are not great quality.. And as mentioned, Carling is a pain n the butt.. You will not find ones with legends...

As 73k5blazer was saying, it's only available in bulk.. manufacturers are buyng those... i wouldn't bother hunting any of their dealer list for em.. chances of finding the switch you want is super slim.. and getting others down the road to match will be impossible..

best bet is to just label them otherwise, either the way 73k5blazer is doing, or as I am, just putting labels above or below...

I've been ordering from Waytek.. they have minimum orders, but only on the actuators, switches can be single ordered...

My apologies to ryoken and to newyorkin too. I confused the two of them in my earlier post and gave out the wrong info....sorry guys
George

no big on my end... :wink1:

I'm actually considering becoming a distributor for Carling... I've already got something of a stockpile...

Me and you should consolidate our stockpiles, I've got quite a few myself.
