I just got a 1981 K30 for pretty darn cheap... 200 bux... and it has a 60 up front and a 14 rear, i was talking with the guy and he thinks it has a limited slip, or a gov lock, in it. It has 4.10 gears. Did this come as an option for the k30, and what would should i do to get a detroit? Thanks for the help.

pretty much all GM could be had with an optional traction aid. if the RPO sticker is still in the glove box i believe its G80. if thats in the list, youve got one, probly a gov lock. they are pretty stout in the 14b for mild use. much stronger design than in the 10b.

to put a detroit in, assuming you've got a gov lock, you need to find a new carrier, causs a govlock wont accept it.

thats cool . i just scored a cucv 1ton rolling chassie last week for 600 with 4.56 and detroit, rear only. just need to be in the right place at the right time.

Yea, i was talking with my dad about finding some one ton running gear, and he asked this old guy he use to work for, how much he would sell the truck, so now i just have to find a place to put it for a while til i can get the axles under the blazer. I will have to see if the list is still in the glove box, and i will open it up too. So if it is a gov lock, then i have to get a new carrier to run a detroit, correct? I am not to smart about the locker and gov lock thing.

damn thats a great deal!
I thought my 77 K20 was a great deal. I got it for 800 with a blown 350 and with 7in lift and brand new 38 gumbo mudders. Then I sold the mudders for 700 and I had a 100 dollar K20... still the best truck I got.

dang man scratched me out, w/ my $250 74' 3/4ton 4" lift and 35's blown motor of course. congrats, maybe it'll go hydro assist, cross-over, and 52" springs on its way into the blazer.
