Cool top lifting hoist

As I’m waiting for my new Jimmy to arrive I’m checking out various ways to remove and store the top. I found this site below and it’s a cool design but they unfortunately don’t list the weight capacity. Just figured that I’d share in case there are others thinking about the same thing.

I'm curious how much that tiny top weighs, and you know, why those guys need a lift... At first glance, it seems like the top is still very much in your way.

I suspect that the reach of that thing is not enough to reach the center of gravity on a Blazer/Jimmy top. I think it's easy to justify $500 on an accessory for a $60k vehicle, as long as you don't think about how you could achieve the same thing with some quick sketches and a $100 trip to the hardware store. Personally, I like ceiling mounted lifts so that top is completely out of your way for as long as you want.

I already bought a garage overhead storage deal off of Amazon, supports up to 250lbs which should be fine. but thought someone may find the EZ top lifter useful. Pretty sure the Bronco tops weigh as much as the K5 tops, my friend has one and it’s pretty stout but I agree with your point about it not being deep enough reach potentially.

Once I get my over head storage rack I’ll have to figure out how to secure it to the rafters, I’m thinking some 8’ decking boards spanning perpendicular across the rafters and secured into the rafters with lag bolts and then bolting the storage frame to the board. No one seems to mention how they reach their pulleys to their rafters but I assume it’s with a single lag bolt so if I span a few rafters with the deck board it should be plenty secure/safe.
