I`m wanting to just run rubber line from my tranny, to the cooler, to rad, to auxillary filter, back to tranny. The only fittings I don`t have, are the 2 that are on the tranny. From a quick glance, it looks like they`re an inverted flare fitting, 5/16ths maybe? Are they even available with a hose barb on the other end?

TIA!

Thanks Paul! :wink1:

Hey, did ya happen to get my PM about the rad mounting?

yeah I did man.. sorry, I've been stretched REAL thin lately.. but I'm on vacay as of this morn... I'll get to it today.. the summits are a pretty custom affair..

and just pull that inverted flare fitting out and you'll have an npt hole behind it.. I know there has been debate on whether it's npt or not.. but i've run npt for years without a drip..

careful with your routing, melted trans hoses can be a recipe for disaster...

it's actually NPS in the tranny. It's still pipe thread, it's just not tapered. I've had the same experience though, a normal brass tapered pipe fitting won't leak.

Do you telflon tape the threads?

On a somewhat related note, what is everyone running for their rubber cooler lines?

no biggie Paul, I understand :wink1:

I always use a thread sealant...

most don't run rubber out from the trans... hardline is how most peeps go, then splice rubber in up front... it'll work tho... on that note, I run steelbraided all the way...

Yeah, I`m still undecided if it will be full rubber, or just as you said, run hardline most of the way, and rubber the rest. My auxillary filter and cooler both have hose barbs on them, so rubber is bound to make its way in there :p:

For those sections of rubber, what kind of line is it? Just regular fuel line?

there are soooooo many choices... from crap to bulletproof... for standard, over the counter rubber stuff, the Goodyear stuff is usually pretty nice...

I`m thinking stainless braided up to the firewall, then rubber the rest of the way...

at that point you might as well make those initial runs in/out of the trans, all braided.. you need to use reusable ends on that stuff.. you'd still have to buy 4 fittings, it's just some extra hose. also keep in mind you want as few connections as possible...

hardline and hose, cheap, and will leak at some point..

steelbraided and reusable ends, expensive and bulletproof...

it's $30 vs $130, roughly.....

nice find... think I'll pick up a set for the new 700 going in...

If I run all AN line, how would I go about hooking up to the tranny cooler, with it having the hose barb fittings?

Whatever you do, don't use rubber it needs to be oil fluid hose. The trans fluid will attack rubber hose.

well, you should have thought of that when you bought the cooler. :p:

just run AN to the rad, then from the filter back to the tranny. you can barb, hose and clamp the other runs...

:doah: That should work, thanks Paul!

Scott, I`ve yet to come accross oil fluid hose in any parts store around here, have a source?

there is specific hose for trans fluid, tho any oil hose will do.. any parts place should have some... or heres some goodyear stuff..

rubber is a perfectly acceptable term, heck steelbraided is a rubber hose.. there are just such a varying degree of rubber hose types out there, meeting various specs. how many layers, internal braid, etc...

Make your own.
Here the post on how I did mine when I replumbed my cooler.
