What is the best battery for a yota truck in terms of cca's and ca's? I ask because i recently bought a 750 cca group 24 battery for my 81 yota and when I cranked it over my dash wires started smoking. Is this an issue with the cca's or should I hunt down the P.O.?

I doubt that's a CCA issue. Having more cranking amps than stock is merely unecessary, not dangerous. Is this the first time in a while that it has had electrical power applied to it?

That's the crazy thing. I drove it the day before and I heard it run and saw it drive before I bought it. It was sitting for i'm guessing a couple of months before I bought it though.

The CCA's of a battery have nothing to do with any wires smoking. There is a secondary issue with the vehicle that needs top be addressed. Sounds like there is a dead short somewhere under your dash.

yeah just as long as you have a 12v battery the cca's dont matter. it sounds like you have another electrical issue. either you have a short to ground which is causing a circuit to draw more amperage which will create heat and melt the insulation off the wire and cause smoke. or you could also check your fuse box's some one in the past may have put a higher amperage fuse where it does not belong. i hate electrical problems.... there are alot of wires/harness's that can go bad  get a light tester and or multi meter and a case of beer and start chasing wires!
