I came across this photo in Greg's thread and his transfer case caught my eye. I recently bought a SM465 and a 205 transfer case out of a 78 3/4 ton pickup to swap into my 70 blazer. The newer transfer case is not drilled and tapped for the bolts that attach to the bracket on the frame. I would like to utilize the bracket but I am not sure of the size of the bolts, the thread and the depth of hole. There is plenty of material to drill and tap but I need to know what size to drill and tap it. Any body know off the top of there head?

If I'm not mistaken, the 78 chevys came with the notorious np203. If that's the case, the mounting bolts won't be the same for the 70. Could be wrong, often am.

My case is definately a 205....and red circle is the bracket it attaches to and inturn to the frame.

They are fairly big, this is the only pic I could find of mine. Don't know the actual size but if you have the bracket take it with you to the harware store and buy the biggest bolt you can fit in the bracket and tap that size :D
Good Luck

You could send a PM to VTBlazer....

He has those items now, and probably hasn't installed them yet so he could take measurements, etc.

Thanks for the info Greg....I thought that stuff might still be on your garage floor and you might be able to tell me. About the only thing that I really need to know is the depth of the hole so I don't drill into the case:doah:

I'm about 3100 miles from NH right now...:p:

IIRC they are bigger then 1/2. They either have a 7/8 or 15/16 head on them. I think they are either 9/16 or 5/8 bolts.

I'll measure mine and post back tonight if no one haas replied by then. I think you might be right about 9/16 or 5/8. They were pretty big bolts.

They are 5/8-11 NC. If I recall correctly the fasteners are not that long say 1" -1 1/2"

I just measured my t-case for you. Those bolts are 5/8" x 11 and the bolt hole depth is 1 3/8"

Thanks a lot for the info! I knew someone would come through sooner or later. CK5 Rocks!
