You sir, should learn some manners and proper etiquette.

When you ask a question about something you know little or nothing about and someone answers (who knows the subject in question), you don't start debating a point you know little about!

Yes, I remember when I was young and stupid too. NOOB :D !!

rofl w/e man...don't bust a blood vessel over it.

So what are the plans for lifting the '98?

4 link front and rear, big king coils. I'll have Evolution Machine do the linking I want professional grade. When i've got 15K in the truck and 15K more in the engine, I'm not going cut rate on the suspension.

Deuce-and-a-halves never had 16 R20's on them. Only common thing that runs those tires are HEMMETs and HET's. They have much larger axles than 2.5 ton rockwells  . I guess buffalos and some other specialty equipment runs 16 R20 as well.

MY LORD!!!!

Those are some sweet meats! The rims look spectacular man, and that old dodge they are under is real looker. I realize it is not yours, but still it's a nice truck.

How long until you get yer rockies??

Excellent point.

But what gear ratios did both 2.5 AND 5 tons have, HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM :D :wink1: ?!

I knew 2 1/2 tons never saw 16r20s. but I also know that no military truck ever put down over 1200 ftlbs of torque.............if i start breaking shafts, I'll have to deal with it then..........2" stuff or who knows..........

and thats a 1953 1/2ton Dodge body on a newer ramcharger frame. its a looker, especially once the paint gets done. watchout.

I have a friend that plays with 2.5 rockwells and 48x31 terra tires and we have managed to break shafts with a 454 and the stupid pedal so I'm sure your in for some broken ones.

What set up are you running? 4 wheel steer or normal rear axle? any lockers?

Both times we broke a shaft was under power with the rears turned full. This truck is detroited in the rear. Surprisingly, 2.5 ton stock shafts aren't very expensive. Both times we busted a shaft it was one of the stubs.

CDA 455: I know 2.5 tons are 6.72 ratio, You've got me on the 5 tons though. For some reason I was thinking they were a 5.83. I have no idea why that number sticks inmy head. Just for grins anybody know the ratios for 10 ton and up axles like M-928's or HEMMET's?

Breaking axles with torque is just bragging rights!!!
GO DO IT!!!!

ps What do you have done to your cummins?12v or 24v?

It really is silly how big they are, but I don't care. I love 'em. Double beadlocked.....forgetaboutit!!!!!!!

Regular steer front straight rear. planning on open/open off the hop and see how things hold up. Jay's '53 will be a bit of a guinnee pig.........:D

My Cummins is 24valve currently with HRVP and a hot ECM blah blah...........but will in the VERY near future be P-pump'd (#0 plate, 3GSK, lazercut DV's) and twin'd ;)

yes I am. industrial injection HRVP been on the truck 1 month.........and Smarty. I won't need either...........stupid electronics :D

Let me know Ive been wanting a SMARTY!!!! OK and a clutch too lol.

98.5 BHAF, 4" straight exh, edge att, vulcan kit, twin lift pumps.(still not enough)
