crawl ratio ?

those crawl ratios are for mechanical parts only, but how does tire size fit into the equation? I know the smaller the tire the higher ratio, but if you have actual 50:1 with 33's what would 44's give ya? Something like 37:1?

Tire diameter is a HUGE factor in crawl ratio's .
I just use a baseline of a 31" diameter tire as a starting point to judge and see how different ratio's measure up.

I'm only running a 36" tall tire so my C/R is a little excessive at 200 plus compared to a rig running a larger diameter tire.

It depends on what kind of wheeling you do. If you do mud, yea its ok, if you do rocks, no it sucks. Im at 53:1 and I would hate to be any higher than that but I will be loving life when I finally get the doubler done.

So is 31" a basic starting point by which crawl ratio is established? I get the tire size thing, but when I see crawl ratios listed with 44" tires, that probably doesn't take into consideration the reduction of ratio with the taller tires, right?

CORRECT ! Most folks do not do the extra math to make the tire diameter an effective part of the C/R.
I think , for the most part , that it is assumed the tire O.D. should be given when final crawl ratio's are being compared.

OK then I guess I hadn't noticed that tire size was a given figure in the crawl ratio equation. So tranny first gear+low range gear+axle ratio=crawl ratio with XX's tire size should be the way it is listed for comparison sake?
