I've got an 83 suburban, and I've got an 88 crew cab(same body style). Has anybody ever set the crew cab on the suburban frame?

You're planning on doing a bit of shortening somewhere in that crewcab, right?

where in the world would you shorten the crew cab at????

Yes you can put the crewcab body on the sub frame. You may want a BL but it really depends on where the frame rails rise at. I put a crew cab on my standard cab long bed truck. Now I have a crew cab short bed. I took almost 32" out of the front of the bed. And I used no body lift. I brought the frame through the floor then boxed around the frame with sheet metal. It may not be for everyone but i like it. http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=598547

Just do a lot of measuring and try to get everything figured out before you make the first cut would be my only advice.

Well, I was sorta thinkin' from the bed! I guess I should have clarified that.
That's a nice rig. I believe someone here did the same thing a few years back and was trying to sell it in the for sale section. It was all done up very nicely, shortened bed and a fresh coat of orange paint.

That's nice. I was gonna junk my Suburban when the back rusts off (which is gonna take about 6 more months). Hell, I think I'll just hack off the back and make one of those. Of course, not as pretty, but it'll give me a year or more use until the cab rusts too.

Thanks GM for that quality sheetmetal during the 80s.
