So was the trim chrome and you painted it all? I plan on doing the same to my stuff the same as yours but wasn't sure how good it'd stick![]()
I watched him take sand paper to perfect new chrome pieces

I think he did it just to spite me

Chrome sucks.
I agree but in my applicatiopn it will just NOT workDepends on the application![]()
. Don't want it flaking off later on though
I really don't know. Just an idea possibly.did your idle screw get turned down?
If its getting fuel by pumping the throttle it should have fuel in the bowl, but maybe the idle circuit is not opening or plugged.
Did you get the timing set to TDC after it being off a tooth?

Idk if it would make a difference but if theres a gasket that is sucking air wouldit cause this?I really don't know. Just an idea possibly.
Did you pull the fuel line to see if it was pumping ?
What kind of carb?
Is the float stuck down some how?

Can't get it up to 500 rpm's. Just sputtering if you pump the pedal like a mad man.So it won't even start now right? Nope, well, it fires and dies immediately.
Sounds like some junk in the carb to me. ( I know I know I am a HUGE help)
I typically go to that when I can't figure out anything else for a carb problem. Float could be stuck up, not sure really.
It sounds like something was in there or got sucked up from the bottom of the tank and somehow made it past the filters, or its something that has been in there since you ran without filters and is now causing the problems.
Will it rev up at all? No revs.
Do you have to pump it all the time to keep it running or will it run at say 2500 rpms?
So the carb is getting fuel, isn't it easy to remove the air cleaner and see if the carb is supplying fuel to the engine? Or just pour some in the engine, shouldn't take long to confirm/eliminate that variable. You probably know to go back to the basics. Air, fuel, spark.
Went back to the basics right away and trouble shot everything I could.
Also, did it start doing this right after you changed the timing? Are you sure the tinig marks are correct, etc? You might want to use a piston stop through the spark plug hole and double check TDC if all else fails.
