Hey guys, next year I am planning on making my 88 R30 into a shortbed crewcab. Truck isnt currently at my house right now, but can I just move the hangers forward or do I have to cut and shorten the frame? If the frame has to be cut can I just plate the outside or will it need to be boxed as well?

An just for the hell of it, here's a pic of the truck in its current state:

Moving the spring hangers forward will result in the hangers being on the flat part of the frame. That would lift the rear of the truck some.

There are several threads here telling the right way to weld a frame together. I seem to remember Rene covering more than once.

Good Luck.

I'm planning on chopping 22" off the middle of my k20 long bed. Make sure you do a Z cut and use fish plate ( Basically a steel plate with no corners)

I took this

and did this...

Yeah, don't want to raise the truck (it's actually going to get a 3" frt. 4" rr. drop) so looks like the frame will be getting cut. Thanks

Also something I didn't think of came up while searching this topic. The long bed gas tank can't be used? Can anyone verify this?
