Crews and worthy rigs Around the country

I was willing to accept rust, but top of all the door frames/pillar is no go. More results of leaky cab lights?

Looks like someone at one point in time "fixed" the normal crew cab roof rust with a skim coat of bondo and some white paint, which in turn did more damage than if it was simply left alone.

If that's the only rust, it wouldn't keep me from buying it.

Mine had rust there, and after 4 years of DD duty in Iowa weather, it wasn't any worse than the day I bought it. I fixed the cab lights though too, so that probably helped.

Yeah, same here. Bought my crew cab in '10 I think, with roof rust there. I replaced the broken clearance lights, removed two air horns and a search light, sealed the holes and it has not got any worse since I owned it. It's been barn kept much of the time, but also a lot of time out in the weather.

I bought my 83 crew cab in 94 and it had rust there but nowhere else - I was always baffled by that.
I didn’t realize that it was that common of an issue on the crew cabs.

I'm happy that my 81 came factory with no holes in the roof. I have a visor I want to put on it, but I just don't want to drill the holes lol.
But it's FAR from perfect, so I just gotta do it lol.

So how would you fix that? Cut it out and find someone parting out a cc or burb and have those same sections cut out and patched in?

Lol. That's why I never fixed mine. Just couldn't figure out the best way to start.

Not posting specific truck, because I’m interested in it…but want some advice/opinions:

Here are some pics. Apparently the only 2 rust areas on the truck. Its a c30 camper special w/454, crew cab dually. Paint is all original with some patina on the hood (works on this truck), and interior is extremely clean, but red. What do you think?

I suppose i'm just bitter that 80's vehicles are reaching a point of collectable value. Don't mind me while I shake my fist in the air and complain that a 30-40 year old car with high miles should not cost $15,000 dammit!!!!
