Reasonable! If the rebuild was as good as the article noted.
Nope. It simpler that that. Look at that pictures. See how much physically Bigger the valve covers are? The whole engine is scaled bigger. So the size of the block casting, does it have to be a certain size (weight / volume) to be count as "big"?

Yeah, then Mopar had tall deck stuff to make it more confusing. Then you add in the Buick/Pontiac/olds stuff that were cubic inch bigger but not physically. It can be confusing to those just learning all the engine stuff.I always thought Mopar had big and small blocks? Our cuda was a big block 383. They had big block 440 too. Then there was the small block 318, 340, and 360. Am I remembering that right?

$9000 is a lot of bones but I figure there aren't too many of these left. This one seems to be in pretty okay shape overall.
That is about $12000 more then it is worth. $20 k gets you a really nice diesel which works a lot better then the 454 for what that truck was built for.
Couldn't have said it better. That is about $12000 more then it is worth. $20 k gets you a really nice diesel which works a lot better then the 454 for what that truck was built for.
