Crews and worthy rigs Around the country

I am in the 3500-HD fb group . That truck has been around the last 4-6 months . Its been sold a few times now . . If you dont know the gmt455 3500-HD trucks read up a little there beefy and any 4x4 is a upfit job non factory .

That thing is clean, and Dana 70 front!
These are special built for government, including fire department in this case, they use heavy duty parts and durable construction.
It might be worth the 14k but I wouldn't buy it for the tbi engine.
It would cost me half that to build it with an L29, if I have to buy the parts now .
But I already have all the parts that I paid cents on the dollar for, I can build this same truck minus the bumper and the fire equipment.
I even have this 454 tbi which I might upgrade to L29 or L21 just for fun

From the factory, they are all regular cab 2wd. I have 2 Monroe 4x4’s and a 2wd. Monroe and Tulsa seems to be by far the most common. Marmon Herrington made a few also. All of the 4 doors are conversions as well. The 4x4 conversion and the crew cab conversion were about the same as the original price of the base truck each. So a crewcab 4x4 would be about 3 times of the sticker price.

I have 3 2wd with 8.1/nv4500 and 8.1/4L80-e and custom swap in build faze 8.1/allison 5speed swap . And a roller parts truck .

Yeah, WAY too many people buy into car projects and think somehow they are going to get their money back out of it later on. It doesn't work like that. If you're lucky, you spent 5k on the car, 20k in parts, had fun for 10-20 years, got to drive it a good bit, then sold it for 15k. Looking at the long game, you lose less money than you would buying a new truck for 70k which is worth 30k when it's paid off eight years later.

and why put the fuel regulator almost next to collector on exhaust system for all that heat in to fuel ?

still on 1/2 ton axles for the price point .

bumpers not even aligned right and door gaps look like crap .

Ain't worth 100k, but i'll happily save some of those interior photos for inspiration on my build. Definitely would love to duplicate that center console and stereo setup.
Merrick makes a kit for those rear seats. And the damn thing has no a/c!
The horror, the horror....

I like the ease of installing Merrick's stuff, but i'm more inclined to DIY the location a bit further back and lower to the floor. Seen a good video tutorial that only requires a few bucks worth of metal bits from home depot and some fab skills. Already have the seats too.

The center console though, that's the cleanest one i've seen yet and I love it. Might have to keep my eyes open for one of those late model setups. Getting all those pieces to mate up and look nice must have been a chore but what isn't?
