Crews and worthy rigs Around the country

I didn't know you could get a K30 with a 6cyl.
Or that you could get one without cab lights on the roof. Until I got my blue crew.

I had a '79 K30 that didn't have cab lights. It was a standard cab, SRW. It had a 350, dual tanks and a heater. No other options.

It's got a big block now.
But factory was 292/465/205.
Still has the 465/205.
It's an 81, sans all options except floor vents from what I can tell.
It is for sale by the way lol.

Just haven't posted it in here yet.

Put the 292 back in it and we’ll talk lol

The 292 has a unique engine crossmember that is really desirable to like four people.

I once knew of a 91 or so new body style K3500 dually...with a 4.3L.

Farmer guy needed to tow grain wagons and other trailers around his farm, had no need for going down the road with this truck, lived in Michigan so 4x4 for snow, and otherwise it was very peculiarly optioned. Single cab dually 4x4, 4.3L, I don't remember what year but it was an auto so 4L80E or TH400, manual windows, Cheyenne with vinyl seat and floor mat, but with AC so his wife was happy while waiting for the combine with an empty. AM/FM radio for the same reason.

It spent most of it's life on his farm in Caledonia, MI lugging trailers around that were probably FAR past the weight ratings. However they rarely broke double digit speeds.

I think that’s it. See how the passenger side is kicked forward to make room for where the 292 fuel pump is.
Putting a stock big block is like same torque with half the fuel mileage lol.
I’d love one with the factory 12 valve.

i have had 1 complete truck and 1 axle i scored from early k30-203 trucks .
I was able to get two K-30’s before they were scrapped - both came with 292 motors a 78 Cab Chassis Wrecker 292/465/205 4.56’s and a 79 Crew Cab 292/TH400/203 4.56’s.
I got the crossmembers and motor mount stands out of both of them for safe keeping ( I’m one of those four folks that OBIJUAN spoke of…) and for when the 454 comes outta my 83 truck and ole John got the 400/203 - actually that’s the 32-spline range box that’s in his Blazer now ( with the ORD 32-spline 465 output shaft ).

Side note: Both trucks had roof marker lights.

Wish mine had the 4.56s
I got the 3.73s. which doesn't seem ideal for the 40" tires lol.
I understand completely- I’ve had four K-30’s ( two were the parts trucks saved from the scraper ) both 292 trucks and one 454 truck had 4.56’s and my current K-30 came with a 454 but only had 3.73’s. That would have been great for a 12V but now I gotta put some 4.56’s in those axles.

I've actually went through the diffs in mine.
Knowing I had 37"s to go on it.
And still put the 3.73's back in :doah:
Now I'm at 40"s and feel stupid lol.

In my defense, it actually did good on the 37"s still.
Could still roast em like a hotrod if I felt like it.
The 40"s it's quite noticable though.:dunno:
