Cricket in new engine

It's not a quick check and a fella does have a full time job, sooooo.....

The builder told me he thinks it's the rear main seal retainer. He said they have had trouble with their guys torquing down one side too hard which cocks the retainer and causes one of the little tabs to rub on the crank.

He said they can be ground down to make sure they don't rub. I'm not sure why they are there unless it's to center the retainer before the seal is installed.

So it requires pulling the trans back, removing the flex plate, and dropping the oil pan a little. Noting complicated, but not quick either.

He said to send over receipts/invoices and they will get me some reimbursement. Since a fella doesn't have a lot of free time and the builder will help with cost, I'm going to have our mechanic get it done.

That's a bummer. Not the end the end of the world but still, time consuming

Well that’s a better issue to deal with than the alternative of something more severe. Still a pain but a lot less of a major issue.
