Crossover steering on steering arm vs knuckle

With you're kits, how is the steering mounted single or double shear?
We source those directly from Barnes or Ruffstuff, it’s single shear. If you knew someone who welds forged steel, double shear would be easy to make happen. Imho I think it’s a non issue.. just check your stuff once in a while and you will know before you have a prob.. FYI we have many of these out there, @jkroberts has tons of thrashing and miles on his.. wed know if there was a prob..

Just trying to find the pros and cons of each way of steering. I wasnt sure if one way made the steering better as far as being tighter or giving a better turning radius ect. I know what Jake has on his which is different from the pictures I posted.
 
I didn't mean to pick on heim joints specifically, more so that using two heims with a single bolt through the knuckle like that has been a problem for some guys I know.

With that setup, the force on the upper heim acts in the opposite direction as the force on the lower heim, and that is extra hard on the knuckle. Roughly twice the force and twice the leverage with the same clamping force as a single heim.

The tapered stud on a tie rod end is a better connection for single shear, but as mentioned, with a 3/4" bolt and a single heim without a high misalignment spacer they hold up pretty well.
