just got done installing my crossover steering. Have a few problems now. I have full steer to the right and almost no steer to the left. The steering was fine with the weight off the tires on stands. It looks like the leaf springs are trying to twist and the body kinda rolls. I think i need a panhard bar. please help

I'll have to get a pic for you. But its a D60 with 8in super lifts and new poly bushings. everything is fine with the weight off the tires jack stands under front axle. took it around the block steers fine to the right but need to make 2 tries for left turns.

u bolts tight? does it want to go to the right if you let go of the steering wheel? have you watched what it does while sombody else turns the wheel? is the steering arm moving as far left as it does when your turn right from center? center tierod joints good? gear box tight? do you got drag link in correct hole on steering arm?

You need the weight on the axle to adjust it properly. If your jacking on the bumper of frame it won't work.

The only way you're going to figure it out is if you let someone else turn the wheel with the truck off the jack while you watch to see what's not moving. I wonder if you don't have a broken stud or loose nut on your new steering arm. Or do you have one of those one piece knuckles?

The weight is on the axle, jack stands under the front axle. everything works fine it turns lock to lock on the steering stops. put the tires back on the ground i got lock to the right and im short about an inch from lock to the left. put a jack under the axle it will start to go more to the left. i had my brother steer the truck with 100% weight on the ground and its trying to twist the springs side to side. It a d60 new from military auction with Virginia 4x4 high steer arms ARP studs all brand new. 2wd box reman from napa. superlift drop pitman arm new, Napa rod ends new, 39.5 irocs. Now i dont see anything binding everything is tight. could i just need hydro assist maybe.

No pins are new also. if someone is steering the truck you can see it trying to rock the truck side to side. Im going to try and get a few pic now

Make sure your center pins are good. I've bent the **** out of them without them breaking before.

Check all the TRE and make sure theyre fully seated in the taper and tight.

Make sure your steering box was centered when you put the pitman arm on.

Panhard is not needed with leaf springs. Are your shackle bushings good?

Sounds to me like either a loose ubolt or bad bushings UNLESS maybe your springs are cracked and slopping around under the ubolt plate.

Gear box centered right. I thank all of you for your help, but i just cant understand why it would be fine to the right cant get full lock to the left. Take some weight off the tires not even jacked up all the way just alittle tires still on ground and everything works fine.

Well I can tell you from personal experience that crossover can be a bitch to get centered but what your saying doesnt seem right.

Lets eliminate some other possibilities. Is it locked in the front diff? Does it have auto hubs? Drive flanges? Full or part time tcase?

O and dana 60 or dana 44?

Its a dana 60 front auto hubs open front diff. 700r4 np205. It didnt make a difference if it was in neutral or not. even when your driving it and have momentum turning in a circle. i checked to see if the u joints might be binding and stoping it from turning.

You might have a air pocket in the system some place. It works fine with no load but put a load on it and then it shows up. It might also be a steering box problem. It's really hard to tell you what to do without seeing it in person but I would try to bleed the system more. Hydro assist might fix it but that still doesn't mean the problem does not exist.

Yeah if there is a problem i wanta fix it right no bandaids here. but why would it work fine to the right but not to the left? Im going to start taking the whole thing back apart go over everything with a fine tooth comb. Just really bums me out when i got so much tied up in the truck, and im so close to having it done.

Any chance the frame is cracked and flexing at the steering box?

kingpins could be binding some how...i never heard of it but sounds like it could be the problem...maybe the spring missing under cap? just a thought? not sure if its even possible.
