Anyone make something like this for GM axles??

Solid Spacers

Solid pinion spacers replace the factory crush sleeve. These spacers reduce the need to retighten pinion nuts and reduce R&P failure due to excess backlash

Very interestion. Would like to find out more info on those.

Well i hate crush sleeves so when i go to install my 1410 yoke on my 14ff i'm going to make a solid spacer and buy a shim pack.

I hear ya on crushing sleeves , when we did the 4.56 , I actually had to use a breaker bar , with my jack handle slid over it , and stand on the damn thing . Haven't gotten the feel for starting it crushing with an impact like some others can do .

We went a little at a time and checked the preload . Luckily it got done right , its quiet and over the 10,000 mile mark now .

When we did my 14ff we shattered the 3 or 4 inch think cheap casy block that came with my buds 40 ton A frame HF press. It was LOUD and scary :eek1:. I had a 3 inch block of 1018 steel, it did the trick. Crush sleeve's SUCK period. This solid spacer is a great idea IMHO.

My 40 ton air over hydraulic press works great for getting them to start to crush. :D

Bringing this back up.

Has any one tried it yet.
Was gonna replace my yoke with flange and might try it.

Well, there's not really any experimentation here. ~1/2 of all diffs use shims instead of crush sleeves anyway (~90% of Dana diffs), shims/spacers are better. Crush sleeves make assembly quicker/easier in the factory.

If you switch to a spacer/shims, you'll still need to pull everything apart and set the pinion bearing preload.

Big block and 44 boggers will break those 12 bolts. They've broken a 14 bolt twice and a Dana 60 three times for me.
