I said it was COMMON to see a press used not that it could not/should not be done another way . If good air pressure is avaialable it can be done with a 1/2" drive gun like stated up above.
I was just trying to answer your question as to why he might be having more trouble than you did with a lesser 10 bolt sleeve. Just as "goldwing" said , the same torque on that air gun is not the same as continous force such as a press . Since the guy was having trouble getting the sleeve on his 14FF axle crushed folks gave him another option that might be easier than getting more air pressure or a stouter gun.
