I can get all the parts of a 97 dodge. Pretty sure i know what to get out of there. So what am i getting myself into?? Anything to look for? How are the 5spds that are put in them? Any good? I really want to go for this. So any help would be great! thanks guys! mike

Gimme the correct pn#'s and i will...or feel free to reply with the numbers. The only numbers I got with my starter were 'in store' numbers that don't cross reference for you guys. (Canadian parts chain)

I am still not sure what i am paying yet. i need to work a few things out. The guy that has the yard might take my old M1009 for it. That would be the best for me. paid 600 for the truck.......but i think that would be to good to be true. Guess i will find out soon. mike

as for the 5 speed, i think they are awesome transmissions. One of the main problems they had was the overdrive gear nut coming loose. They have a fix for it, and you can actually repair it with the tranny in the truck IIRC. I just rebuilt an nv4500, not hard to rebuild either.

good luck on the swap

I have two engine choices at this point a 6BT or a 7.3 PS, my uncle gave me both of the engines from his shop. :D Now if I could only find a mint crew cab to put one of them into. :cool1:

I am pretty sure i lost it. It has not been there for long. He has had some crazy offers for it that there is no way i could even fork over that much right now. I didnt know these CTDs where so wanted. oohhh well......

OK some guy came to his yard and offerd 7500 for the whole truck. :yikes: that is not even close to driveable. So i am out. Am i missing something?? Will these motors go forever or something?? I cant see why it is worth that much.

The motor alone can go for $4000-5000 used. Brand new ones are $10K+ and they are very popular motors so demand is higher than supply, much like the Dana 60 front axles have become.

Do a search on truckshopper.com and see what a 1997 Dodge 2500 CTD is going for with low miles...around $17k.

My local dealership said an ISB crate engine strait from Cummins is about $13K.

Dunno what ISB actually stands for, but the ISB motors are the newer 24-valve computer-controlled Cummins turbodiesels Dodge puts in the trucks.
