OK so I may be obtaining an industrial 12v for next to nothing. Can't passit up but it has an sae 2 bell housing that's no big deal to swap. I'm trying to figure out whether I should try to source a dodge transmission or is there any better option as far as automatic.
This would be for the rebuild of my K30 crew cab so there's plenty of room.
Also mating to an np205 probably without the magnum box this time but I know nothing about the dodge trans and adapting it. Would it be better to run a dodge transfer case? Is it passenger side drop?
I don't think I'll be uncorking it to produce too much power as my goal for this truck is reliability.
I have a 5spd Allison 1000 but I'm really not interested in electronics and I'm sure it would need a spendy rebuild to handle the torque.

Imo a gm automatic takes too much money to make it worth the effort to use.
Dodge autos aren't all that great but the money you save in adapting and controlling it can be put into building it.
Dodge autos up to 07.5 are 23 spline and the 93 and older dodge np205 will bolt to it directly.
They are like the ten spline version and are very weak. Ideally you'd put a 29 spline output and tcase on it. Especially if you put some power to it.

Next, you can spend alot of money putting that engine into the truck. Consider it a long block. Not much else is ideal for a swap into a gm.
Especially that injector pump.

Fyi : diesel power plant engines are setup and use some different parts over road engines . It can be a few simple mods or big $$ mods to make them correct .

I know a guy who got a deal on a 8.3 from a crane . Run great and strong but to be correct it should of had the I.P. swapped and the upper intake setup swapped to the liquid inter cooler.

That allison would prob hold as they are behind dmax and 6bt in med duty setups .

Nv4500 is the obvious choice for adaptability. Probably have to swap the input on the 205 to the correct spline count for a dodge.

The tremec TR-4050 is a new choice too. Figure $4,000 to $5,000 for that bad boy though.

A Dodge nv5600 would be another option but I hear they are just as pricey.

The less computing power you need to run the truck the better. Stick with a manual.

Yea I really don't want electronics but I'd like to keep it automatic so the ol lady can drive it in a pinch

Well I just got the call that it's coming home for free! I assume I'll need to change the injection. I also may need to turn the oil pan around or replace it and the pickup.
So the 47re/48re aren't worth it? Saving the money on the engine it will free up some for swap parts like a p-pump maybe the turbo if this isn't ideal for otr use. I'll have to look around for parts I'm not in a hurry.

Free.99 is always a good deal.
I have alot of opinions about this and there's no wrong way to swap this in. Some things just really help. Dodge parts are conducive to use in a pickup for the most part.
Definitely need a rear sump pan and pickup.
Probably the accessory system as a whole.
Plan on the gear case, so pull the cam or at least the cam gear. That can be an ordeal for just the gear.

Nothing wrong with 94-07 auto transmissions except the wiring which is somewhat simple to overcome. It's just money but basically the same as what it takes to run the allison.

Six in one hand really.

Yea less electronics would be a priority I hated dealing with the Allison.
A quick search found some p7100 conversion kits.
Is there any reason in particular that this industrial injection won't work?

I can't ID just from the pic. But let's say it's optimized to be run at a single rpm as a generator or something. What it is specifically, I don't know.

Evidently the ve pumps on these don't have "air fuel control" a diaphragm lookin device on top of it so I'll have to look when it gets here

I have a built 48re in my Dodge. Stupid simple and has been damn reliable too.
It's based off the old 727 torqueflite and can be built to handle stupid amounts of power just like a turbo400 can be.
Uses a TV cable and only needs wiring for overdrive and tc lockup. The 05 and up 49re got a little fancier with having tow/haul mode and such. So stick with the 03-04 version.

Biggest downside to the 48re, it's only a 4spd.
