Cummins owners

Id do some seroius checking into potential emissions testing to come down the pipe not that the green/dems are in control again. Here in Ca theres been talk of smog check for diesel pickups, working in the Gov end of things agencies are being forced to get rid of diesel equiptment that will not be able to pass up comming regs or current regs and are to pricy to convert to electronic. Two of them were NTA 855 Cummins powered rigs. Otherwise id go with a pre 98.5 12 valve engine. Just look for KDP damage if its a junkyard special. Do a search on Killer dowell pin and read up before you lay down any hard earned coin. Ive had 3 of them one KDP let loose,it wasent pretty or cheap to fix.

I read an article on the killer dowell pin. I personally would buy a new truck. I know it sounds "cool" to swap in a cummins but I think it will nickel and dime you to death. If I were going to swap a cummins into anything it would be a 12 valve into my truck or my K5. There is nothing unique about a cummins in a dodge. Or you could do a tune up on your truck and but a chip for it to get a little more go out of her. Just my $.02

KPD failure can be catastrophic. or it can fall into the oil pan and you'll never know it. you have to kill the KDP before it bites you.....stupid easy to do. pull the gear cover. peen over the dowel hole edges. reinstall cover with new front seal. good to go.
