Cummins R2.8 in K5?

Sorry, I’m talking about the 4 cylinder 3.9 ISB I have in breadvans. Stock they are a lot more power than a 12 valve. They are 16 valve common rail, basically a 24 valve out of a dodge pickup but 4 cylinder, and I sell them with Allison 1000 trans for $4000

How big dimensionally are the 3.9 isb’s? Wondering how they would fit in the smaller old toyota pickups/4runners. When you sell them, do some come with a/c compressors and p/s stuff, or are most w/o? Gears are turning in my head

I haven’t read all the Commenta in the thread but I will weigh in ,

The little b’s ( the 2.8 and 3.3’s ) are great little engines . Lighter and smoother then the 4bt by a long shot .

I have swapped 3 of the 3.3’s into different vehicles and I am currently gathering parts to swap a Common Rail 3.3 into my M43 Dodge ambulance .

It’s an easy swap , and you don’t have to just go through advance adapters for the conversion parts for the trans .

I used Phoenix Casting adapters for all the swaps , and used Diy4x builder bushings for the mounts.

For the power steering I used a hydraulic pump that bolts into the gear train below the IP , no belts to worry about!

I have done CJ8 scrambler , a Jeep TJ and the GMC CCKW 6x6 all replaced big six cylinder gas engines, and all where a huge improvement in power and mileage .

Larger than most people think, it's a medium duty engine that's built to run at max torque 100% of the time. Light duty applications (1 ton and lighter vehicles) are usually designed to run at max torque somewhere in the 30-60% range.

Mine is the Isuzu 4bd1t, their version of the Cummins 4bt (basically). Weight is similar to the 454 big blocks/6.2/6.5.

Probably too heavy for that. That are similar size to a 4bt, they come in a 1 ton Chevy chassis in the breadvans, they are rear gear drive engines but I can’t even remember what accessories are on the back. They don’t have A/C but come with everything you would need. You can have the whole rolling chassis if you want :)

While there are smarter people than me here, does anyone know if the 24 valve injectors are larger or would be an upgrade to the 16 valve 3.9s? I have a complete one minus turbo I was thinking about putting a larger turbo and injectors in. I have a good set of 24 valve injectors from an 05 dodge.

Should be the same part #. The 4b's use many of the same parts as the 6b's.

The Isuzu is a bad ass little engine , really the only issue is that there isn’t much of an aftermarket for them .
