Some of you may remember I have a small leak in my stock raidator on my '72 K5 from a past post. So I ask/tell my divorced live-in wife thingy (we are divorced and getting remarried) she can get me a new raidator for my blazer because I got a hole in it and was leaking during a trip. So, I tell her she can get me an new aluminum radiator as my only Christmas gift. Gave here all the info, pics and place to get it and she says "NO". I'm like WTF! Then she says, if it is a broken part on the blazer then just go and buy a new one and I will get you something else. I was pretty stoke when she said that since we have been so strapped for expendable cash the last 4 months.:D

Now on to needing your opinion. Here is the one I'm looking at getting. Seems like a pretty good deal and I can pick it up locally to save on shipping. What say you?

Looks Dandy, make sure to get new rubber mounting feet for it too, isolating aluminum radiators as best you can from vibration is a good thing

You have been strapped for money so your going to get the rad AND she will buy you something else too. That don't sound like a good financial decision to me if things have been tight. Just sayin.

You would be missing out on the whole advantage of an aluminum radiator by going with a three row unit. The reason good aluminum radiators work better than copper/brass units is because the tubes can be made wider in aluminum than with copper/brass. This increases fin to tube contact, increasing the total thermal transfer ability of the unit substantially. On reading the ad for this radiator, the seller states "Aluminum dissipates heat more efficiently than copper or brass" which is not correct at all. They also state "Outperforms other 2 row aluminum radiators", but they do not say which ones or how they do it with a less efficient core.

If you are going to buy an aluminum radiator only buy one with two one inch tubes--not three 5/8" tubes. If you want a three row stick with copper/brass as it will work better than a three row in aluminum.

A quick search turned up a bunch of three row units (I did not know so many places were selling that crap), but then I found this one: Two row aluminum radiator. In reading through their ad, they understand the reason for an aluminum radiator. It looks like they have good feedback and the product looks good, so I would definitely go with this one over the one you had posted as their product will net you a better result in the end.

I've been VERY pleased with Summits al offerings.... very nice, and not nearly as pricey as a R Davis, BeCool, Griffin, etc...

We have been strapped for cash because Courtney was laid off in June. She was making 6 figures and me being in the construction sales industry my commisssions have been down lately. She is now back to work making pretty good money now so that has a lot to do with her comment. ;)

Moses, I am really glad you posted up. When I clicked your link I read the listing and it sounded familiar. I went to save it in "My Ebay" section and noticed that I had saved the same radiator from thesame company several months ago that had expired. Thanks for looking out. So for the price, it that one you would get without spending the coin on a BeCool or Flexilite?

Paul, I'm going to take a look at your suggestion too.

Thanks fellas

Ahh, I got'cha, just keeping things in perspective. Not judging ya of course bud. Just thinking of priority responcible spending, thats all. :) Hell if she's making good coin now tell her I need a new Al. rad too!. :D lol!

As far as the ebay offerings go, yeah, I'd probably go with these guys. Their product seems to be decent for a decent price. Measure the dimensions of YOUR radiator--not what someone or some company says it is, but your acutal radaitor. Take those dimensions (overall width, overall height, core width, height, and thickness) and look at the "universal" radiators that are offered by Jegs and Summit et al. You may find that one of these will fit your truck better than the one that is a "direct fit" for your truck (you should verify the direct fit specs also). So long as your measurements match what you are buying (or you decide they are "close enough"), then you have found the one you want.

Keep in mind that often with AL radiators, hose modification/mixing & matching of hoses is almost always necessary--not always, but it seems to be for me. Also, do not believe that more money necessarily gets you a better radiator. The last two Ron Davis radiators I bought ($770.00 worth) both leak from where the tubes enter the header shortly after purchase and got the standard Ron Davis brush-off, 90 day warranty, electrolysis etc. So do not believe that because you are not spending the big bucks to get a "insert name here" radiator that you can not get a good one for less money.

I'm leaning pretty strongly to this guy's radiators (LINK). Construction is super clean. Two 1" rows. Drop in fit for our trucks. They're not as cheap as some I've seen. You can get it with/without fans, trans cooler, etc.
