Anybody ever built one? I'm thinking for making shock hoops and just more space, it'd be cool to have the shaft offset more above the frame to get out of the way of stuff.

I'm thinking of two double u joints on both ends to offset the "slip" part of the shaft so it's still safe etc, and have some type of bearing bolted to a bracket to hold it all from moving side to side.

But my thoughts are as I cannot seem to find the u joints for very cheap, not cheap at all really... So could i take a few XJ shafts and make one good offset one using all the u joints.... Think it'd work?

I'm not looking at my blazer at the moment so idk how much room i truly have with the headers and pumps etc... But thought it might be worth a shot..

Make u joints that look something like this for the offset but that don't have a massive price tag...

And use something like this to keep it all in place...

Or maybe even something like this jeep liberty shaft... :dunno:

Just trying to get ideas really. To see if its worth messing with. I wish they would have built the frames like the newer rigs and put the boxes inside the frame... so much nicer..

Or go Full Retard and find an old flex shaft from a 71-73 Pinto.......

I would try and build something out of a few XJ shafts before I started ordering a whole bunch of u-joints and all that. Since I'm going full hydro, my orbital is now mounted on top of the frame so that I could gain some space for a shock

Astro vans. I pulled two sets and put them on a guys truck in Ca. used two pillow blocks on brackets on the frame. Just to clear some shocks.

A late 80's G series (full sized) GM van has a double jointed steering shaft that might be a bolt in fit as far as the colum and steering box ends, you'd probably have to trim the shaft or add to it to fit your application though...

I acually saw one of these in a 70's model Big Block Camaro with huge primary tubes on the headers.... it was snaked in between the header pipes and the frame.....:eek1:

Ahhhhh... the 70's...... we're all lucky to still be alive.....
Pinto's,,,Vega's...CK10's with side tanks out side the frame rails....
no seat belt laws,,,kids actually went outside and played.......:whistle:
