So like I was saying in the coronavirus thread, I've been stocking up on stuff to keep me busy for when I either got laid off, or the state shut down. Now that I'm on my vacation, I can get started.
I got this order from Summit.
This one from Jegs.
I also have a comp 268H, new Summit brand HEI distributor, and an edelbrock performer intake that I scored for free, off a good friend of mine.
Along with the parts I've been stockpiling, is a Quadrajet off a 1978 chevy truck with a 350 and manual transmission, which incidentally works out perfectly, though in desperate need of a rebuild.
I ordered a recalibration kit from quadrajetpower.com, along with the reamer to bush the primary throttle shaft.
This will be my first experience with AN fittings, and braided stainless line. I'm really looking forward to it. If I didnt feel the fuel pressure regulator was necessary, I would've just got the pre bent steel line for $19, but looking back, knowing what I know now, all the carb issues I had back in the day were mainly pressure related. With the general shittyness of most aftermarket parts these days, and the Qjet's sensitivity to fuel pressure, I decided it needed to be part of the swap.
Also, I'll probably get some hate, but the full TBI swap I did in like 2009 never worked right after sitting for ten years, and I dont want to mess with it anymore. Luckily my block is one of those funky ones that is drilled for a fuel pump pushrod, even though it came out of a TBI truck. I won't be doing any wheeling the Qjet can't handle, I'm more of a hot rodder anyway, and like to mess with stuff. Not to mention it will end up being more of a stockish restoration project eventually.
Here's the cam card. Really exciting stuff. I figured this cam with the single pattern would crutch the shitty swirl intake port some, and still work with the stock heads in the valve guide to retainer area, while making good power.
