D 44 Spindle/Hub Interchangability

1976 Chevy w/Dana 44 front end. I bought a set of large inner bearing spindles off Ebay and just changed the olds one out. When I tried to install the hubs the inner bearing would not slide over lip. Then I noticed the spindles I removed were a smaller diameter in the rear. So I guess the factory spindles are small inner bearing. My question is can I use the same hub and buy a new "larger inner bearing" and use the new largre spindles or will I need to go back to the smaller spindles. The outer bearing (closer to the warn hub) fit fine. What are my options?

If you change the spindles, you have to change the bearing hub also or no bearings will fit

I just researched it and the hub is different between 1977 early and 1977 late.
