i got a good running 350 tbi motor. took off the heads and tossed the intake then flat tappet stock cam. the valve springs also went good bye.

next all new gaskets. new z28 springs from http://www.sdparts.com/product/SD1004/1250HPZ28DropinValveSpring.aspx and then timming set http://www.sdparts.com/product/12371043/1987UpSBChevroletSingleRollerTimingChainKit.aspx this all goes with a good used take out 94-97 z28 lt1 roller cam/roller lifters/ lifter bars / spider unit / pushrods . then we got some comp cam roller tip lifters to threw in the mix also part # 1417-16 like these here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/COMP...ryZ33614QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem and thats the best price i found with free shipping and i also got 17 bucks extra off from ebay 10% off offer coupon. then down to 155 shipped to me and free shirt.

the intake is edelbrock 3706 87-up center bolt changed style intake . performer unit with egr to get better fuel milage and more power to motor. i will be using a adaptor to keep tbi unit on truck but go on 4 barrel intake.

brian at tbi chips will be doing my chip. i have taken some of his build up items and his advice for my needs and using all of it in one. should be a great tourqe monster.

that is one of the mods he did on the motor i am taking most of the stuff i am getting. he had 1 bored to 50mm and set it up from there. and runs his high output fuel pump as stock flows like junk and his 18psi spring for regulator.

i will be doing stuff in steps. at this point its all inteernals and later more external boltons.

few more parts delivered to me friday and today .

scoggin-dickey z28 springs. sd1004 set of 16 springs.

comp cams self align 1.52 roller tip rockers 1417-16 set .

gmpp single roller timming set with new hardware and thrust plate. 12371043 part #

flowmaster 50 delta flow 3" in/out muffler used ebay 38.00 shipped like new unit.

waiting for shorty headers edelbrock units found cheep. . .

and also waiting for flomaster 2.5 in x2 and 3.0 out ypipe unit to build my new ypipe setup for more flow than the stock tinny junker. tbichips brian shows the chassie dyno #s and its all good for around 25hp range so worth it.

got all my gaskets and stuff. new gm valve seals will be going in also with the spring swap. more pics and progress to come soon.

Stupid question on those springs. Are they a strait drop in or do you still have to measure for installed heigth?
 
well just picked up the headers off evilbay. some hate it some like it i am in the middle so i watch and find a few things now and then.

got these 350 headers for my truck to go with the rest.

edelbrock units thay sell for around 350 ish new. these are new and just dont have gaskets or hardware . grabed them for 100.01 and 21.00 shipping. :eek1:

now thats a good steal for the project truck build to keep the budget low.

The timing set you referenced says it WILL NOT work with LT1 cams.

Also those valve springs should not be used with a roller cam. You need roller cam specific springs since the opening and closing rate is much quicker than a flat tappet cam. Those springs will end up breaking over time if you use them with a roller cam.

he told me i would need to cut 1/4 " off cam pin to clear frt cover.

and he has used those springs before with no problems but i will listen to good info.

any specific reason the tset wont work ?

I believe the front of the cam is different on the LT1 engine than a standard roller cam. Just did some quick checking and the difference is in the cam sprocket. I don't think you can even use the cam, the LT1 is the engine that uses the cam to drive the water pump.
 
any good cheep sets of roller cam spec springs i can grab up quick?

and i will check the cam fit with the gears thursday and will take cam for pics .

edit for his edit : got the correct tset part # i need handy?
 
Dont want to sound disrespectful to 4X4HIGH, but there are guys all over thirdgen.org using these valve springs especially and LT1, LT4, LT4 HOTCAM cams with no problems, just have to file the pin some. But I don't build the engines, 4X4HIGH does so I defer to him. Just stating that they can be used and often are.
