D44 Axles Are Differnt, Oh My!!!

So is the D44 really stronger than the 10 bolt? They seem so similar...

They are so comparable as to not matter strengthwise .

What you will find though , is the d44 front with disc brakes was run for fewer years than the 10 bolt .

10 bolt = more years of trucks in yards to pirate parts ( specifically front inner axles ) from :D

yea, i tried a d44 30 spline shaft in the 91 burb...it fit but is to long! d44 measured longer than the 10b axle! put the axle back in the d44, pulled the cover and its right ratio, so pulling 10b & puttin d44 in b/c i cant find a dr-side 89+ 30 spline axle!

I drove by a roadside bank thermometer this morning at like 10:30 & it said 104!! :haha: The low tonight is supposed to be 74. :D

Man, I LOVE the desert!!

That is all!!

Later,
Buddy

I HATE the desert in the Day time! ! ! Its like being in a oven.

Night time is.....cool :doah:though.

No such thing as "monster D60 hubs" on a D44. You are likely looking at an external locking hub version D44...lot of people get confused because the locking hubs is bigger than a standard D44 or 10-bolt, but in now way, shape, or form the same as a D60 hub.

Yes, GM D44 front axleshafts are different lengths than 30-spline 10-bolt versions. The center section is offset different between the two axles, so a D44 will be about an inch longer on one side, and about one inch shorter on the other.

they did make big hub 44s they were hd 44s but they are not the same as a 60 i belive they had spicer hubs i just cant think of the years oh and parts are hard to find for them

Sorry, I'll call "Monster Look" Lol... I thought I scored when I removed them...

I'm curious to why you keep saying "TEERUK" so frequently. Is it your trucks name? Or maybe just your goofy way of saying "truck"?

I grew up in a middle class family, and my mother didn't like when we swore or used slang. So when I finally bought my 1st Pick Up Truck, I named it TEERUK, and got a personalized tag for it... I guess you've watched my vids?
The funny thing is, on the internet, you can't tell anyone from anyone, so the slang actually helps in that respect, if you would consider it "help".
So you would be correct in your observation, Goofy...
BTW, summer's here, I switch to Corvairs... I just returned from a 350 mile drive to Central New Hampshire for a Corvair Spring Dust off in my '62 Spyder Convert, with a straight pipe, kinda deaf rite now!!!
