Hi guys
I have never seen one in person and this one is not that close to me to just go look at it.
IH 1970 front d44 with drum brakes.
I want to know how feasible is it to convert to disc brakes using oem parts.
I have backing plates and hubs and everything else would be new, even axle shafts will be RCP.
Just want the housing basically.
I even have one knuckle and I guess I coul aquire the other side knuckle then it would be a no brainer.
But are the knuckles on the drum brake axle the same is my question

Isn't the Scout axle like 4-5" narrower than a Chevy one? I think it also has smaller axle tubes. I remember for Chevy, the drum and disc knuckles have a different spindle hole pattern. Scout drum should be 6-bolt to the spindle, but I don't know if that's the same as Chevy spindle pattern.

Could be an IH axle from the full-size trucks ( ones that the Travel-Alls were based off of ) that are wider than the Scout stuff ?

IIRC the IH D44 spindles were a six bolt pattern common with what GM used - got no idea if the rest of the spindle matched GM’s stuff though.

Well I guess that will not work.
I need it to be 6 bolt spindle
Thanks gusto for your feedback

not saying all 8 stud . . but also cast in notch for caliper might be missing to that could be a problem
I have backing plates for disc.
The 1/4" thick full circle minus the spot for the caliper
