D60 14 bolt

Holy crap $120/axle for 1 tons?! I can't even find a GM D60 near me for less than grand... Nice score dude :waytogo:

I just scored 2 at local pick -n pulls for about that price pulled with core calipers also and 1 had srw hubs on it with spicer hubs . and they loaded them for me .

just got to keep a eye open . :waytogo:

Maybe it's an east coast thing. I have five PnP's in my area (Sacramento, CA) that I try to hit every 2-3 weeks but I've never seen a 1 ton square 4x4, only 2wd's or newer IFS trucks... When I see them pop up on CL or Pirate everyone acts like they're made of gold and usually want $800-1600. I'm in no hurry though so I'm just waiting and keeping my eyes out like you said. If I could find one on the cheap like you and the OP I'd jump on it lol.

Yep, if you keep your eyes open you run across good deals sometimes. A buddy scored 5 or 6 Dodge kingpin internal hub D60 fronts several years ago for $150 each. One of the local power companies had just sent their old fleet to the junkyard.

east coast stuff drying up with rust out / scrap prices / local towns laws on cleaning up old vehicles with no plates.

I rember 10 years ago I would see lots of square bodys . now its few and far if you see a decent one.

It's no better down here. I guess we have more old stuff in country junkyards, but everyone with a transfer case thinks they have to build a monster truck and anyone with one ton hardware knows what it's worth. I bought my CUCV axles from a remote junkyard. Pulled em myself and still paid $1200. The next best price I could find was $1500.

Yup, patience is the key. I got my d60 from a friend of a friend who was tired of it taking up space in his garage. $1100 but it already came with 5.13s, a Detroit locker, xover steering arm and brand new brakes

About the only way to score a "cheap" D60 or 1 ton axles around here,is to keep tabs on any municipal auctions, and hope a local fire department or DPW is having a few old trucks get auctioned off...but many guys do just that, and often have the trucks "bought" well in advance, since they have connections at the FD or town hall, etc, and know well in advance when such vehicles might be going up for dibs..

Sometimes you'll see a contractor selling off an old square body 1 ton or crew cab,but most of them are wise to what the parts are worth too--junkyards seldom give any deals on 1 ton axles here, and once in a while you'll find a whole truck thats rotted to death thats cheaper to buy "whole",than just the axles, after a salvage yard gets hold of it...

Scrapyards here also crush everything almost instantly, they no longer let you roam around looking for treasure,"insurance regulations" prohibit non-employees from entering beyond the gates for anything other than dumping off a load of scrap...once anything gets beyond the gates, its history...unless you can bribe an employee to sneak something out for you, which doesn't happen often ,even for their "friends"..

im in a remote area with one junkyard and they want more money than buying it new from the dealer
